SAEDNEWS: Iran’s first and largest aquarium tunnel has opened at Nazhvan Forest Park in Isfahan, featuring 2 million liters of saltwater and 33 aquariums showcasing marine life from five continents.
According to Saednews, The first and largest aquarium tunnel in Iran is located in Isfahan, the country’s cultural capital. The aquarium features 2 million liters of saltwater and 33 different aquariums representing aquatic life from five continents. It contains both freshwater and saltwater environments, presented in three separate sections: flat or wall-mounted aquariums, cylindrical aquariums, and touch aquariums.
The Isfahan Aquarium is situated in Nazhvan Forest Park. The complex covers an area of approximately 4,000 square meters and was built seven meters underground. It includes large aquariums ranging from 5 to 10 meters, touch tanks, cylindrical aquariums, and a 35-meter-long underwater tunnel.
The aquarium is home to around 5,000 living aquatic creatures, representing approximately 300 to 350 species of fish from the five continents. Around 100 of these animals belong to some of the most dangerous, rare, and unusual fish species. Six species of sharks can also be found in the aquarium tunnel.
The Nazhvan Aquarium complex consists of 30 aquariums measuring between 5 and 10 meters, along with touch tanks, large cylindrical aquariums, and an underwater tunnel. A wide variety of freshwater and saltwater species from different parts of the world have been collected here and placed on display for visitors.
Recently, 1,520 additional fish from 64 different species were added to the aquatic collection at Nazhvan Aquarium. Visitors can observe some of the world's most beautiful and rare marine species swimming beside and above them, creating the feeling of being immersed in an ocean environment.
The cylindrical aquariums are home to clownfish, various species of moray eels, and long-finned fish. In general, the fish are organized according to their characteristics and the type of environment in which they naturally live.
Around 100 of the aquatic animals are considered among the most dangerous, rare, and unusual fish species. The complex also features six sharks.

Seahorses differ from many other fish in their reproductive behavior. Unlike most female fish, the female seahorse does not simply release her eggs into the water. Instead, she transfers them into a specialized pouch on the male's body, where the male protects and carries them until the young emerge.
The gestation period of a seahorse generally lasts between two and three weeks. During this time, the male takes responsibility for protecting the developing eggs. Seahorses belong to the pipefish family and are commonly found in temperate waters.
Seahorses also have a distinctive swimming style. Their bodies are unusually shaped, and their heads resemble those of horses, which is why they generally swim in an upright position.
They are also known for remaining in one place for long periods. Seahorses can stay almost motionless by wrapping their prehensile tails around corals or seaweed. This behavior helps them remain hidden from predators.
A seahorse's body is covered with small bony plates, giving it a form of external skeletal protection. Their unusual characteristics do not end there. Monogamy is another remarkable feature associated with seahorses and remains a subject of scientific interest.
While many fish mate with different individuals during reproduction, seahorses are notable for forming long-term pair bonds. Their unusual reproductive behavior makes them one of the most fascinating inhabitants of the underwater world.
