The Deadliest and Most Dangerous Road in the World

According to SAEDNEWS, “Death Road”; you’ve probably heard its name many times, but have you ever seen its winding curves up close? We are talking about the most dangerous road in the world, where entering it takes real courage.

The Amazon rainforest road is considered one of the most dangerous roads in the world. It is located in Bolivia and connects to La Paz. On one side of the road there are only rocky cliffs, while the other side is very narrow. At the same time, it is also considered one of the most beautiful roads in the world. This road is also known as the “Death Road.” The reason for this name is that nearly 200 to 300 people lose their lives on this road every year.

The Death Road was created in the 1930s by cutting through a very large mountain range. Heavy rain and dense fog are very common in this area, which reduces drivers’ visibility and control, leading to many accidents. In addition, small waterfalls also exist along the road, making the conditions even more dangerous.

In the summer season, there is also a large amount of dust in the air, which further reduces drivers’ visibility. In addition, the driving rules on this road are somewhat different. In Bolivia, people generally use vehicles with the steering wheel on the right side, but it is better for vehicles entering this road to have the steering wheel on the left side. This allows the driver to have a clearer view of the edge of the road and improves safety.

If a vehicle falls into the canyon on this road, there is no way to recover it. On the other hand, the risk of driving errors is very high. The road has very steep ascents, making driving extremely dangerous. Vehicles must maintain a steady and controlled speed as much as possible while traveling along it.

On July 24, 1983, nearly 100 people lost their lives in a bus accident on this road when the vehicle fell off the edge, making it one of the worst disasters in Bolivia’s history. Later, in December 1999, eight Israeli tourists traveling in a jeep were also killed in another crash on the same road. However, efforts have since been made to modernize the road and improve its safety. Guardrails have also been installed in certain sections. Still, very few people dare to set foot on this “Death Road” anymore.
