How to Make Creamy Tuna and Spinach Shells

According to Saednews,

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 onion

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 4 cups whole milk

  • 1 hamburger bun

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

  • 300 g spinach

  • 350 g tuna

  • 20 large pasta shells

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).

To make the sauce, heat the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook for about 6 minutes, until softened. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Gradually add the milk while continuously stirring. Cook for about 3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly and begins to bubble. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside to cool.

In a food processor, combine the hamburger bun, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Process until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.

Transfer half of the breadcrumb mixture to a large bowl. Add the spinach, tuna, and half of the sauce. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.

Fill each cooked pasta shell with about 2 tablespoons of the spinach and tuna mixture. Arrange the stuffed shells in a baking dish or casserole dish approximately 23 × 8 cm.

Pour the remaining sauce over the shells and sprinkle the remaining breadcrumb mixture on top. Bake for about 20 minutes, until the sauce is bubbling and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.

You can serve this dish with a salad. Combine 1 tablespoon vinegar, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 tablespoon sugar, and 1/4 tablespoon Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Toss with 3/4 head of chopped iceberg lettuce and 1 sliced tomato. Enjoy the stuffed shells with the salad.
