SAEDNEWS: Iran and South Africa have agreed to expand academic and scientific cooperation as part of efforts to deepen educational collaboration within the BRICS framework.
According to Saednews Citing IRNA, Iran and South Africa have agreed to strengthen cooperation in education and academic research during a meeting between Masoud Shams-Bakhsh, Iran’s deputy minister of science, research and technology, and Nomusa Dube-Ncube, South Africa’s deputy minister of higher education and training. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 13th BRICS Education Ministers Meeting in Bhubaneswar, India.
Dube-Ncube presented an overview of South Africa’s educational and research capabilities and expressed interest in developing joint research initiatives with Iranian universities. She also highlighted opportunities for postgraduate exchanges involving faculty members and students, as well as study programs and short-term training courses.
Shams-Bakhsh welcomed South Africa’s role as a founding member of BRICS and said Iran was interested in drawing on the country’s experience in establishing and developing the group’s institutional mechanisms for educational cooperation.
The two officials also exchanged views on Iran’s involvement in the BRICS Education Working Group, the mutual recognition of academic qualifications, and the preparation of a joint cooperation document focusing on strategic areas of collaboration.
