Inside Thousands of Jewel-Filled Corpses

According to Saed News, citing Young Journalists Club, in 1578 in Rome, a collection of thousands of ancient tombs belonging to Christian martyrs was uncovered. Among these remains were prominent figures such as Saint Albertus, Saint Valerius, and Saint Valentine. Their bodies were immediately sent to the Catholic Church for the restoration of sacred relics that had been damaged during past invasions.

All of the remains were adorned with luxurious clothing and consecrated jewelry, believed to symbolize comfort and peace in the afterlife.

Over the years, professional photographer Paul Kodonaris has gained access to these mummies and preserved bodies, capturing extraordinary photographs of them.
