SAEDNEWS: IRGC spokesman said the US failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz despite its naval power, and warned that future clashes would involve new targets and weapons "the world" has not seen.
According to Saednews, The spokesman for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, said in an interview with Al-Alam television that the United States suffered a historic and humiliating defeat in its war with Iran but lacks the courage to admit it.
Mohebbi said military and political analysts, including some in the United States, recognize the American defeat. However, he distinguished between two levels of failure: the failure to achieve predetermined objectives, many of which were set by the Israeli regime, and a deeper strategic defeat that affects the foundations of American power.
As an example, Mohebbi pointed to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. He said that despite having the world’s largest navy and citing the protection of energy supplies and freedom of navigation as justifications for its regional presence, the United States failed to reopen the strait during the war.
He said the Strait of Hormuz had been open before the war and was closed as a result of the American attack on Iran. He added that its continued closure remains linked to repeated American violations of agreements.
Asked whether the current situation represents a new phase of the conflict, Mohebbi said the war has not ended and is continuing through different stages. He said the IRGC has prepared for a prolonged war and would defend the country against any renewed escalation.
He rejected reports of any contact between the IRGC and the United States, saying that under Iran’s constitution, the IRGC’s role is strictly military and does not extend to diplomatic affairs, which he said fall under the Foreign Ministry. He added that the IRGC has never maintained official or unofficial relations with the United States and does not intend to become involved in diplomatic matters.
Regarding the possibility of renewed attacks, Mohebbi said any future confrontation would take place across a changed geography of war and involve new weapons and capabilities that would “surprise the world.” He added that Iran’s targets would also differ from those in previous confrontations.
Mohebbi said Iran had developed weapons both during and before the war that have not yet been used, describing them as strategic assets that would be deployed when necessary.
