BRICS Nations Have Agreed to Protect the Flow of Energy Supplies as Global Oil Prices Continue to Rise

According to Saednews, Speaking to reporters after the summit, Indian Ministry of External Affairs Secretary Sudhakar Dalela said that the leaders had discussed energy security and supplies in West Asia during their meeting in India.

“There was a discussion about energy supplies in relation to the situation in West Asia. These issues were certainly raised. BRICS already has an important mechanism for cooperation on energy, and given the current geopolitical circumstances, these matters naturally formed part of the discussions,” he said.

The BRICS summit was held in New Delhi amid a sharp rise in global oil prices, which briefly climbed above $108 per barrel during the week. The increase was driven by concerns over possible disruptions to shipping routes and supply constraints in the region.

Dalela emphasized the need for international cooperation to keep trade and energy supplies moving smoothly.

“We have made it very clear that all countries need to work together to ensure the uninterrupted movement of global trade, supply chains and energy resources, in full compliance with international law,” he said.
