SAEDNEWS: A U.S. missile strike on a wedding ceremony in Sirik reportedly killed seven people and injured 68 others. In retaliation for the attack, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missiles at U.S. bases in the region and a drone facility in Jordan.
According to SaedNews, direct hostilities between Iran and the United States entered a new and bloody phase on Tuesday night, as the U.S. military expanded its attacks to several locations across Iran. In one of the night's most tragic incidents, a residential home in Bandar Kuhestak, Sirik County, Hormozgan Province, was struck while a wedding and marriage ceremony for a young couple was underway.
According to reports from local officials and the Hormozgan Red Crescent, the missile impact and resulting shrapnel wounded dozens of people attending the ceremony. The death toll from the incident reached seven, including a young child. The number of injured later rose to 68, with several victims transferred to medical facilities for more specialized treatment.
Local reports said emergency responders arrived at the scene immediately after the attack, with at least 15 ambulances dispatched to transport the wounded. Images and reports from the site showed extensive damage to the residential building where the ceremony was being held. What was supposed to mark the beginning of a new life for the bride and groom instead became a scene of death and injury following the U.S. strike. Reports also said that the couple had been celebrating their marriage with family members and guests when the attack occurred.
The strike was reportedly not the only U.S. military action that night. Reports emerged of attacks on several locations across the country, including a missile strike near Ahvaz, as well as attacks in parts of Hormozgan and other areas. Fars News also reported that the U.S. had targeted Hormozgan's electricity network, causing damage to regional infrastructure. However, some reports of attacks in certain areas were later denied, meaning that details of individual incidents should continue to be verified through official statements from local authorities.
In response to the attacks, Iranian military officials announced that Iran's retaliation had begun. Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, condemned the strike on the home where the wedding ceremony was taking place in Kuhestak and said Iran would respond to the attacks "decisively."
Hours later, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had carried out a major missile strike against one of the most important U.S. military positions in the region. According to IRGC Statement No. 5, the IRGC Aerospace Force responded to the U.S. attack on the wedding ceremony in Sirik by launching ballistic missiles at a facility housing U.S. long-range RQ-4 and MQ-9 drones at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan. The IRGC claimed that several drones were destroyed, multiple technical facilities caught fire, and a number of pilots and flight-support personnel were killed.
The announcement came after earlier reports of Iranian missile and drone attacks against U.S. positions across the region, including American bases in Erbil, Iraq, and other U.S. military facilities.
The latest escalation follows a series of increasingly direct exchanges between Iran and the United States. After U.S. strikes hit multiple locations in Iran, culminating in the devastating attack on a wedding ceremony in Sirik, Iran responded with attacks targeting U.S. military bases and infrastructure in the region. The confrontation has now extended beyond Iran to locations including Jordan, Iraq and Bahrain, underscoring the increasingly dangerous and sensitive nature of the conflict between Tehran and Washington.
