SAEDNEWS: Yemeni armed forces said they targeted two Saudi oil tankers with missiles and drones on Thursday, according to a military spokesperson.
According to Saednews, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, announced on Thursday that Yemeni forces had carried out missile and drone strikes targeting two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.
According to Saree, the vessels, identified as ENCELIA and LAYLA, were targeted because they allegedly violated a maritime embargo imposed by Yemeni forces. He described the attack as a "high-quality military operation."
Yemeni broadcaster Al-Masirah TV quoted Saree as saying that the operation involved a combination of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, claiming the strikes accurately hit their targets and caused a fire aboard the vessels.
Saree further stated that the operation forced approximately 10 ships to change course and retreat. He added that Yemeni naval operations against Saudi-linked maritime activity would continue as part of what he described as a policy of retaliation.
The military spokesperson also warned that any future military action against Yemen would be met with what he called a large-scale response targeting locations deep inside Saudi territory.
The claims made by the Yemeni military have not been independently verified, and no immediate confirmation or response from Saudi authorities was available at the time of writing.
