SAEDNEWS: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has praised Iran’s historic resilience against aggressors, stating that the country has taken a “great step toward final victory” through an agreement with the United States.

Iran Has taken a “Great Step Toward Final Victory,” Says Ghalibaf.

According to Saednews, Ghalibaf made the remarks in a post on X on Monday, amid reports that Iranian and American delegations are likely to meet in Switzerland on Friday to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at bringing a permanent end to what he described as an illegal U.S.–Israeli war of aggression against the Islamic Republic.

“The lovely and dignified Iranian nation! With your historic resistance and the valor of the armed forces against those who sought the destruction and surrender of this homeland, Iran has taken a major step toward final victory. They wanted to, but they could not.”

“We stand firm, and in the end, our Iran will prevail by the grace of God.”

To emphasize Iran’s resistance, the lead Iranian negotiator also attached an image of the 4,500-year-old Abarkuh cypress tree in central Iran, considered Asia’s oldest living organism.

The reported U.S.–Israeli aggression on Iran began on February 28. In response, Iranian armed forces targeted sensitive and strategic American and Israeli sites across the region and restricted transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

On April 8, forty days into the conflict, an Islamabad-brokered ceasefire came into effect. However, the first round of Tehran–Washington negotiations failed to reach an agreement, while the United States imposed what was described as an inhumane “naval blockade” on Iran.

Meanwhile, both the United States and Israel allegedly violated the temporary truce, prompting Iran to carry out retaliatory strikes and close the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels.
