SAEDNEWS: The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that retaliatory strikes against several Iranian air defense systems, radar installations, and ground control stations near the Strait of Hormuz have been completed.
According to the political service of Saed News Agency, and quoting IRNA, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed on Tuesday night local time that it had completed its aggression against Iran. It stated:
“CENTCOM forces, using precision munitions from U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter jets, attacked Iran’s air defense systems, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz.”
CENTCOM claimed regarding its operation:
“This operation was a proportional response to recent attacks on U.S. forces and international commercial vessels transiting regional waters.”
The U.S. Central Command in the Middle East further claimed:
“U.S. forces are alert and prepared to defend against Iran’s unjustified aggression.”
The CENTCOM statement came as Jennifer Griffin, a Fox News reporter, announced on the social media platform X that a senior U.S. official told her that 20 targets inside Iran were struck on Tuesday night Washington time.
Fox News, quoting the official, claimed that although the U.S. attacks were described by CENTCOM as concluded, the U.S. military is ready to respond if Iran decides to retaliate.
CENTCOM announced on Tuesday afternoon local time (June 9, 2026, equivalent to Khordad 19, 1405 in the Iranian calendar) that U.S. forces, in response to the downing of an Apache helicopter belonging to the U.S. Army the previous day, began defensive strikes against Iran at 5:00 PM Eastern Time, under the orders of the Commander-in-Chief, Donald Trump.
The U.S. Central Command in the region claimed that “this mission (aggression) is a proportional response to Iran’s ‘unjustified aggression.’”
The President of the United States also immediately confirmed the renewed aggression against Iran in an interview with ABC News, claiming:
“I think responding is very important. They shot down one of our helicopters, and we are responding right now.”
He further claimed:
“This is a response to what they did to our helicopter last night, and I believe the response must be very strong and powerful—and it is.”
Trump added amid the renewed aggression:
“I have always believed in decisive responses throughout my life. We had a very good agreement, and we probably still will.”
Earlier, the U.S. President had claimed on his Truth Social account:
“I was just informed by our great military forces that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly advanced Apache helicopters while it was patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz.”
He claimed:
“Two pilots were on this mission, both of whom are safe and unharmed. However, the United States must respond to this attack. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
These attacks and the violation of the ceasefire by the United States come while Trump has repeatedly claimed that a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is close. Meanwhile, CENTCOM, confirming the crash of the helicopter, announced that an investigation has begun to determine the cause of the incident and that its results have not yet been determined.”
