SAEDNEWS: According to The Guardian, John Brennan, the former head of the CIA, called for the removal of Donald Trump, citing his “highly unstable” threats against Iran and remarks that he described as showing Trump was “clearly out of balance.” Brennan stated that the 25th Amendment to the Constitution “was written with Trump in mind.”
According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, citing The Guardian, John Brennan, the former head of the Central Intelligence Agency, has joined a growing number of voices calling for the removal of Donald Trump from office on the grounds that he is unfit to serve. Brennan argued that the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution was effectively “written with Donald Trump in mind.”
Brennan, who led the CIA during the presidency of Barack Obama, said in an interview on MS Now on Saturday that Trump’s recent remarks about destroying Iran’s civilization—and the risks he poses to countless human lives—justify his removal from the White House.
“He is clearly unbalanced,” Brennan said, adding, “I think the 25th Amendment was written with Donald Trump in mind.”
He further argued that Trump represents such a grave liability that he should not be allowed to remain commander-in-chief, given the vast military power at his disposal, including the United States’ nuclear arsenal.

Brennan’s comments place him at the forefront of a growing debate over Trump’s decision to enter into conflict with Iran and his escalating threats to inflict widespread damage on the country. On April 7, Trump warned that if Iran failed to meet his deadline, “an entire civilization will die tonight”—a statement Brennan suggested could imply the potential use of nuclear force.
As Trump’s rhetoric has intensified, including increasingly aggressive and profane language, a rising number of Democrats have called for invoking the 25th Amendment. Added to the Constitution in 1967, it allows the vice president and a majority of the cabinet to remove a president deemed “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
According to NBC News, more than 70 Democrats in Congress have called for the amendment to be invoked.
However, with strong loyalty from JD Vance and members of the cabinet toward Trump, the likelihood of such action remains extremely low. Nonetheless, concerns over Trump’s increasingly apocalyptic tone are expected to persist—especially following the collapse of peace talks between the United States and Iran on Saturday and the possibility of renewed hostilities.
Brennan’s remarks are particularly notable given that he is currently under active investigation by the United States Department of Justice during the Trump administration, as part of what critics describe as a retaliatory campaign against perceived political opponents. Under pressure from the White House, the Justice Department launched criminal investigations in July into Brennan and James Comey, the former head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Two months later, Comey was charged with two counts related to allegedly lying to Congress during his 2020 testimony about Russian election interference. A judge later dismissed the case.
Reports indicate that the investigation into Brennan is still ongoing. In March, Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and a Trump ally, claimed that the case was “heating up.”
