Pezeshkian Calls Ceasefire the Result of Unity and Sacrifice

According to Saednews, In a post on his X account on Wednesday, President Masoud Pezeshkian underscored the importance of national unity in confronting challenges, stating that the ceasefire reflects Iran’s core principles and the strong backing of its people.

“The ceasefire, with the acceptance of the general principles desired by Iran, is the fruit of the blood of our martyred Leader, great Khamenei, and the achievement of the presence of all people on the scene,” the president said.

“From today onwards, we will continue to stand side by side—whether in diplomacy, defense, on the streets, or in service. Our unity is a victory,” he added.

The United States and Israel launched a large-scale, unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

In response, Iran’s Armed Forces carried out strikes on American and Israeli positions across the region, demonstrating significant retaliatory capability. Contrary to expectations of a swift victory by the attacking side, Iran’s response proved far more powerful, causing substantial damage to US and Israeli military assets while strengthening national unity and resistance.

Amid escalating tensions and an ultimatum issued by the US president, mediation by Pakistan led to an agreement on a two-week ceasefire, during which negotiations are set to take place in Islamabad. Iran has introduced a ten-point proposal as the basis for talks, calling for measures such as the withdrawal of US forces from the region, the lifting of sanctions, and control over the Strait of Hormuz.

On April 8, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council described the outcome of the conflict as a historic victory, stating that the aggression forced the United States to accept negotiation terms, including guarantees of non-aggression and a halt to hostilities.

Iran has emphasized that the negotiations do not mark the end of the conflict but rather a continuation of it through diplomatic channels, maintaining a firm stance of distrust toward the United States.
