The Largest Port in West Asia Has Been Shut Down

According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, based on a notice sent by DP World to its customers, Jebel Ali Port has been temporarily closed due to recent regional developments and in accordance with government directives.

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of employees, customers, and business partners.

Located in Dubai, Jebel Ali Port is one of the busiest container ports in the world and the largest man-made harbor ever constructed. As the flagship facility of DP World, it plays a role that extends far beyond that of a conventional port. Its prominent position is clearly reflected in its operational statistics.

In 2024, the port handled 15.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), marking its highest throughput since 2015. This figure accounted for approximately 18 percent of DP World’s total global operations.

With an annual capacity of 19.4 million TEUs, more than 100 berths, and a 25-kilometer western quay, the port is capable of accommodating the world’s largest commercial vessels, as well as Nimitz-class aircraft carriers of the United States Navy.
