It is sometimes observed that some men wear neckties and bow ties over their shirts at engagement and wedding ceremonies, while others wear them in public. What is the religious ruling regarding the use of these items?

“Indeed, the Zoroastrians shave their beards and keep their mustaches long, whereas we trim our mustaches and leave our beards, and this is in accordance with the natural disposition (fitrah).”
