SAEDNEWS: Indian Woman Secretly Plotted Husband’s Murder, but Hired Killers Faked the Crime After Befriending Him

The Strange Story of Hitmen Hired to Kill a Husband—Who Ended Up Befriending Him

According to Saednews, An Indian woman accused of plotting to kill her husband with the help of her secret lover and three hired hitmen has been arrested after the plan unraveled in an unexpected way. Instead of carrying out the murder, the hired killers reportedly befriended the intended victim and staged his death using tomato ketchup.

Police identified the woman as Anupalavi and her alleged lover as Humavanath Kumar. Authorities said the pair conspired to murder Naveen Kumar, who lived in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

According to investigators, Anupalavi had two children with her husband, a taxi driver who also worked at a factory. Police allege that after beginning an extramarital relationship, she and her lover decided to arrange his murder.

The couple allegedly paid three men—identified as Harish, Nagaraju, and Mugilan—an advance of 90,000 Indian rupees (about US$1,100) to carry out the killing, with a promise of an additional 110,000 rupees after the job was completed.

The original plan was for two of the hired men to board Naveen Kumar's taxi as passengers before a third accomplice joined them. They were then supposed to abduct him and take him to another location to carry out the murder.

However, events took an unexpected turn. Instead of killing him, the three men reportedly became friendly with Kumar. To convince the conspirators that the murder had been completed, they covered him with tomato ketchup to resemble blood and sent photographic "proof" of his death.

Police believe Anupalavi's lover quickly realized the images were staged. Fearing the consequences of his involvement in the failed murder plot, he allegedly died by suicide.

The following day, Kumar's sister-in-law reported him missing. After he was safely recovered, he told police what had happened. Investigators examined the phones of Anupalavi and her alleged lover and concluded that Kumar's mother-in-law, identified as Amujama, may also have been involved in the conspiracy.

Authorities arrested the three alleged hitmen and continued their investigation into the case. According to reports, despite the alleged murder plot, Naveen Kumar asked police not to take action against his wife, saying he had forgiven her.
