Saed News: Iran will not receive sanctions relief merely for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
According to SAEDNEWS, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during a congressional hearing, answered questions about the war against Iran and U.S. foreign policy.
Key points of Rubio’s remarks include:
The only reason for the maritime blockade on Iran is the country’s alleged closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
“We need a few days to receive a response from them (Iran).”
“We hope they reopen the Strait of Hormuz.”
Iran may have agreed to negotiate aspects of its nuclear program that it previously refused to discuss.
“We hope to reach an agreement with Iran that leads to the reopening of the straits.”
In the next phase, Iran must eliminate its highly enriched uranium.
Sanctions were imposed on Iran because it previously enriched uranium at high levels.
Iran will not receive sanctions relief solely for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
If Iran insists on closing the strait, “we will close it for them,” and this has already been effectively done through a blockade.
“We cannot live in a world where Iran has the right to close straits and impose transit costs. If other ships cannot pass, Iranian ships will not be able to pass either.”
Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz are illegal, and no country in the world supports them.
Reopening the Strait of Hormuz means ships can freely move through international waters.
