SAEDNEWS: The US Secretary of State has provided internal guidance to American ambassadors in West Asia, partly connected to ongoing internal developments in the White House regarding Iran negotiations.
According to the political desk of SaedNews, The Guardian reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has instructed American ambassadors in West Asia to refrain from making statements that could exacerbate regional tensions.
In the confidential memo, Rubio directly emphasized to diplomats that, given the unprecedented rise in regional tensions, all ambassadors and embassy staff in sensitive posts must strictly avoid public statements, press interviews, or any social media activity that could provoke regional audiences, create prejudices on sensitive political matters, or complicate U.S. relations.
The memo further states that heads of diplomatic missions are expected to refrain from interpretations or reports on issues that could intensify tensions or cause confusion regarding official U.S. policy, noting that disciplined public messaging is crucial, especially at the current juncture.
Although the directive, personally signed by Rubio, does not mention Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, internal government analysis suggests it is a direct and targeted rebuke of him.
The memo was issued just two days after Huckabee claimed on the Tucker Carlson podcast that Israel has a biblical right to govern large parts of the Middle East—a statement that drew widespread condemnation across the Arab world.
These controversial remarks have deeply worried and angered White House officials, who argue that such statements could strengthen Iran’s negotiating position in nuclear talks with Trump’s envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Whitcraft.
According to informed sources, former President Donald Trump is reportedly furious that Huckabee’s interventions disrupted the nuclear negotiations and has not forgotten that Huckabee’s daughter did not support him in past elections.
Rubio’s recent directive indicates that the Trump team does not want diplomatic controversies to derail the main track of negotiations with Iran. When the U.S. ambassador to Israel makes provocative statements about territorial claims, it provides Iran with an excuse to adopt a more aggressive stance at the negotiating table. The memo aims to silence disruptive voices so Washington’s message to Tehran comes through a single, unambiguous channel.
Huckabee’s indirect reprimand demonstrates that the White House’s current priority is advancing the deal through Trump-trusted figures such as Jared Kushner. Huckabee’s religiously charged remarks not only alarmed Arab nations but also distracted from the nuclear agenda. Trump and Rubio have concluded that maintaining a calm media environment is essential to prevent Iran from exploiting internal divisions in the U.S. administration.
The memo delivers a clear message: Rubio stresses that disciplined communication is “vital” at this moment. The United States aims to engage with Iran at the negotiating table with maximum focus and minimal distractions, removing any obstacles that could complicate relations or provoke regional audiences.
