Saed News: The U.S. Secretary of State claimed that reaching an agreement with Iran is still possible.
According to SAEDNEWS, Marco Rubio stated regarding the preliminary U.S.–Iran understanding that reaching an agreement with Iran on Monday is still possible.
He added: “Either we reach a good agreement with Iran, or we will have to deal with this issue in a different way.”
Rubio further said that before considering alternative options, diplomacy will be given every chance to succeed.
He also claimed regarding Iran’s nuclear issue: “There is a serious possibility of entering time-limited negotiations on Iran’s nuclear file.”
These remarks come while a knowledgeable source told Tasnim News Agency that Iran has no optimism toward the United States, and message exchanges through Pakistani mediation are continuously carried out with distrust toward the U.S. government.
The source noted that no final understanding has been reached so far and disagreements on some clauses continue, but even if a preliminary agreement is reached, it does not mean a change in Iran’s view toward the United States or confidence in the implementation of its commitments.
The source emphasized that the U.S. has a very poor track record in negotiations, which reinforces distrust; therefore, even if an agreement is reached, Iran will continue to monitor U.S. actions, and if the U.S. violates commitments, Iran will retain its leverage to respond.
