US Imposes Sanctions on Iranian Cryptocurrency Firms and Individuals

According to Saednews, The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on Tuesday that it has added four individuals and four entities linked to Iran to its sanctions list.

According to the Treasury Department, the four designated individuals are associated with Nobitex, Iran’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. The sanctions also include three other companies operating in the financial and digital asset sectors: Bitpin, Ramzinex, and Wallex.

The Treasury stated that OFAC sanctioned Nobitex and the three other cryptocurrency platforms as part of what it described as an “Economic Fury” campaign and within the framework of efforts by President Donald Trump’s administration to counter what it called threats from Iran.

These latest measures come despite ongoing efforts by the Trump administration to reach an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, following its failure to achieve stated objectives through military pressure against Tehran.
