Saed News: A Palestinian official body has announced that Israeli regime authorities are advancing plans to build 2,721 new settlement units in settlements located in the West Bank of the Jordan River.
According to SAEDNEWS, citing Anadolu Agency, the Center for Resistance Against the Construction of the Separation Wall and Settlement Expansion in Palestine announced on Sunday evening that Israeli regime authorities are pushing forward plans to build 2,721 new units for Israeli settlers in West Bank settlements.
The body stated in a statement that the Higher Planning Council affiliated with the Civil Administration of the occupying regime, which is part of the Israeli army, is scheduled to hold a meeting on Wednesday to review a new package of settlement plans.
According to the statement, these plans include the advancement of at least 2,721 new housing units for settlers in several West Bank settlements; additionally, a set of organizational and structural plans is also on the agenda aimed at expanding the settlements’ influence and strengthening their legal and planning infrastructure.
The Palestinian body explained that the proposed units are distributed across several settlements in different areas of the West Bank, the most important of which are:
1,006 units in the “Giv’ot” settlement west of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank; a settlement that, after being separated from the “Alon Shvut” settlement in March 2025, is being established as an independent settlement.
922 units in the “Har Bracha” settlement south of Nablus in the northern West Bank.
455 units in the “Mevo Dotan” settlement west of Jenin.
234 units in the “Kiryat Arba” settlement east of Hebron, along with several other units in other settlements in the region.
According to the Center for Resistance Against the Construction of the Separation Wall and Settlement Expansion, the upcoming meeting will also review several other plans regarding changes in construction boundaries, land-use designation, and updates to building regulations in several settlements—an issue that, according to the body, reflects the continued efforts of the Israeli cabinet to complete the planning and legal infrastructure of settlement projects alongside their physical expansion.
The center emphasized that these plans reflect the continued policy of the occupying authorities to impose new realities on Palestinian land through the expansion of existing settlements and the establishment of new settlement outposts.
It added that the implementation of such plans increases the risk of further confiscation of Palestinian lands and fragmentation of geographical continuity among Palestinian communities, while also representing an extension of the creeping annexation policies pursued by Netanyahu’s cabinet in various areas of the West Bank.
Since the beginning of the war against Gaza on October 8, 2023, the West Bank has witnessed an increase in settler attacks backed by the Israeli army. These attacks have intensified particularly in rural areas and Bedouin communities adjacent to settlements and settlement outposts, which have repeatedly become launch points for attacks against Palestinians and their property.
