Consequences of a War Against Iran; A Political Disaster for the White House

According to SAEDNEWS, citing Mehr, the American newspaper Politico reported that the sharp increase in gasoline prices is considered a national political disaster for the White House. As Americans begin their summer travel season, gasoline prices are creating a domestic political challenge in every U.S. state.

The report emphasizes that while the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is focused on the $5.02 per gallon benchmark, gasoline prices in many states are approaching or exceeding this level. This is the highest price level recorded during the administration of former President Joe Biden in 2012, when the war in Ukraine disrupted the energy supply chain.

The report further states that Washington state has set a new record at $5.79, while several other states are approaching new records as the main cause of these sharp increases (disruption in the Strait of Hormuz) remains unchanged.

Data released by GasBuddy shows that only 56% of Americans plan to take road trips longer than two hours, down from 69% last year.

Previously, an economic analysis conducted by researchers at Brown University showed that since the beginning of U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran, each American household has paid an average of $190.47 more in fuel costs. For many families, this is equivalent to one month’s electricity bill or a week’s grocery expenses for a couple.
