Located in Elite Village, Mazandaran, Siyah Cheshman Waterfall is one of Iran’s most beautiful natural wonders. Situated near Marzanabad, the waterfall stands 30 meters high and 15 meters wide. It was formed over thousands of years due to the erosion of rocks by flowing water. The historical significance of this location is undeniable, as numerous ancient ruins and archaeological sites dating back to the pre-Islamic era can be found in its surroundings.
Reaching the waterfall requires a challenging trek, but many—especially younger adventurers—embrace the difficulty to experience the breathtaking nature of this hidden gem.
There are several theories behind the name Siyah Cheshman (meaning "Black Eyes" in Persian):
The dark-colored rocks surrounding the waterfall give the water a slightly darker hue, hence the name.
According to local legends, a beautiful girl with black eyes threw herself from the waterfall to escape a cruel oppressor, giving the waterfall its poetic name.
Some believe "Cheshman" is the plural form of "Cheshmeh" (spring), referring to the many dark-colored springs near the waterfall.
