According to SAEDNEWS, In a startling development, South Korean singer Taeil has officially departed from the K-pop band NCT following accusations of an unspecified crime. His agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed the news in a statement released on Wednesday via X, previously known as Twitter.
The statement revealed that Taeil will leave the boy band after being “accused in a criminal case related to a crime,” although the label did not provide specific details regarding the nature of the allegations.
“We recognized the seriousness of the issue, and we have decided that Taeil can no longer continue team activities,” the label announced. “We have discussed this matter with Taeil, and it has been decided that he will leave the group.” SM Entertainment further noted that Taeil is fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
Taeil was a prominent member of NCT, or Neo Culture Technology, a globally acclaimed K-pop group known for its diverse sound and experimental music. The boy band debuted in 2016 and has since expanded to include over two dozen members across various subunits, such as NCT 127, NCT Dream, and NCT Wish. Taeil was particularly active in the subunit NCT 127, which has earned significant international acclaim, including charting on Billboard lists.
