SAEDNEWS: An Iranian lawmaker emphasized national unity and support for the president, warning that calls to question his political competence only serve the enemy and could weaken societal cohesion amid ongoing regional tensions.
According to Saed News qouting ILNA, Rouhollah Lak-Aliabadi, regarding some parliamentarians raising concerns about the political competence of the president, stated: “War is harmful in any form and carries many dangers, but within every threat, an opportunity arises.”
The parliamentarian continued: “The twelve-day war was an overt aggression by the Israeli regime, but the greatest opportunity it created was the solidarity and cohesion among the people. Citizens of all political persuasions defended the country, and I believe one reason was the president’s effective presence on the ground.”
He emphasized the role of the Supreme Leader, stating that “He swiftly replaced commanders and disappointed the enemy. On the other hand, the president’s on-the-ground presence in political, social, and military arenas strengthened this unity and cohesion. I believe some are stuck in the past, revisiting old electoral debates under new titles.”
“War can reignite at any moment; society needs unity,” the representative of Dorud and Azna said, praising the government’s performance and urging political actors and the public to support it. “A ceasefire does not mean the end of war. Society needs cohesion,” he added.
Lak-Aliabadi noted the president’s exceptional insight, piety, expertise, courage, and honesty, asserting that the parliament largely supports the president despite some criticisms. He remarked that current economic and energy imbalances are longstanding issues, not recent developments, and praised Deputy Speaker Poursina (or Dr. Pezeshkian) for speaking honestly to the public.
“If individuals raise the issue of the president’s political incompetence, they are in harmony with the enemy,” he said, accusing the U.S. and Israel of seeking division. “People are smart; they can distinguish between sincere actors and those undermining national integrity.”
He continued: “We are all in the same boat. We must present a united front against the enemy. Support for the president is support for the system, as the Supreme Leader has repeatedly emphasized.”
Lak-Aliabadi criticized those seeking visibility at the expense of national unity: “Some are willing to bear any shame for attention, which is naive. Comparing the current president, a veteran who defended the nation, with historical figures like Bani-Sadr shows alignment with the enemy. But the public is aware and will not be misled.”
He urged political activists to break their silence and not allow public opinion to be steered toward enemy-aligned narratives. The lawmaker stressed that revolutionary commitment does not mean extremism; rational governance and national cohesion are essential, and society will emerge stronger from current challenges.
Finally, he warned against unfairly undermining a government that has served the people with integrity: “We cannot stab those who have risked their lives and earned the public’s trust.”
