SAEDNEWS: Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Reacts to White House Claim That Lebanon Is Excluded from Ceasefire Agreement by Sharing Shahbaz Sharif’s Tweet
According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, citing Asr-e Iran, Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published the image of a tweet by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which the cessation of war and Israeli military aggression in Lebanon was explicitly mentioned as part of the Iran–US ceasefire understanding. He wrote:
“If this is not another premature backtracking by the United States, then what is it?”
It is worth noting that just a few hours after announcing the ceasefire understanding with Iran—which was said to include all fronts of attack involving Lebanon—US officials made a clear reversal, stating that the issue of Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire agreement with Iran.
This comes despite the fact that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, as a mediator of the ceasefire understanding, had explicitly described the cessation of war against Lebanon as part of the agreement with Iran.
Israeli forces have, meanwhile, carried out attacks on residential areas in Lebanon, resulting in more than a thousand Lebanese being killed or injured.
