SAEDNEWS: Joseph Kent, director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, has resigned from his position in protest of the ongoing military conflict with Iran, according to reports from American media outlets.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a statement released Tuesday, Kent announced that his resignation would take effect immediately.
“After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today,” he said.
Kent also criticized what he described as pressure from pro‑Israel lobbying groups in the United States, claiming that such pressure played a role in the decision to launch military action against Iran.
“I cannot, in good conscience, support the current war in Iran,” Kent stated. “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we entered this war because of pressure from Israel and its powerful lobby in the United States.”

The resignation comes amid growing debate in the United States about the origins and justification of the conflict.
Two weeks earlier, during a new round of nuclear negotiations, the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran. Iranian armed forces responded with missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. bases and facilities in the region.
Since then, several American politicians and media outlets have questioned the rationale behind the war, arguing that the military action may not align with U.S. national interests.
Some U.S. analysts have also said that, contrary to claims by President Donald Trump, there had been no clear evidence of an imminent Iranian threat or plans for a pre‑emptive attack on American bases.
