SAEDNEWS: Sheikh Naeem Qassem, the newly appointed Secretary-General of Hezbollah, delivered his first speech since taking on the leadership role. Speaking on Wednesday, Qassem made it clear that he would carry on the vision and mission of his predecessor, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
According to SAEDNEWS, Qassem took a moment to honor martyr Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, a key figure in the resistance movement. He described the recent Palestinian resistance operation, known as al-Aqsa Flood, as a powerful symbol of defiance against occupation.
In his speech, Qassem highlighted the persistent tensions with Israel, stating, "Zionist enemy has committed 39,000 violations against Lebanon." He warned that the "Zionist enemy is seeking to build settlements in southern Lebanon," raising concerns about the implications for regional stability.
The new Hezbollah leader emphasized that the group will not be caught off guard by Israeli actions, declaring, "Hezbollah won't wait until Zionist entity could have taken resistance by surprise." He framed the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon as part of a broader conflict driven by Israel, the United States, and the European Union.
He also pointed out the importance of supporting Gaza to counter "US-backed Israeli plots in the region." Qassem remarked, "The Islamic Republic of Iran supports resistance, but does not want anything in exchange," emphasizing Iran's backing for the resistance movement.
Addressing the recent Israeli attacks, Qassem criticized their impact, stating, "If the recent Israeli attacks, including the pager attack, had targeted a state army, that army would have been completely defeated; however, Hezbollah has recovered from the assaults and is now achieving victories against Israel."
He expressed confidence in Hezbollah’s resilience, noting that the group has regrouped since experiencing losses. "Resistance fully ready to face battle with dignity in case of imposed war," he asserted, describing the Lebanese resistance as a "legendary force."
Qassem concluded with optimism about Hezbollah's capabilities, stating that the "resistance enjoys exceptional capability to set up rocket launchers amid Israeli aerial aggression," and added that "the Zionist occupation admits failure in the face of resistance drones and missiles."
This speech marks a significant moment for Hezbollah as it navigates ongoing regional tensions and solidifies its leadership under Sheikh Naeem Qassem.
