SaedNews: “The White House believes it is close to reaching an agreement with Iran on a one-page memorandum of understanding to end the war and establish a framework for more detailed nuclear negotiations; this was stated by two U.S. officials and two other sources familiar with the matter.”
According to SAEDNEWS, citing Axios, two U.S. officials and two other sources involved in the talks said the White House believes it is close to an agreement with Iran on a one-page memorandum of understanding to end the war and define a framework for more detailed nuclear negotiations.
The United States expects Iran to respond within the next 48 hours on several key points. No agreement has been reached yet, but sources said this is the closest the parties have come to a deal since the war began.
Among other provisions, the agreement would include Iran’s commitment to halt nuclear enrichment, the United States’ agreement to lift sanctions and release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets, and the removal of restrictions on transit through the Strait of Hormuz by both sides.
According to Axios, many of the terms outlined in this memorandum are conditional upon reaching a final agreement and leave open the possibility of renewed war or a prolonged limbo in which the war has stopped but nothing is truly resolved.
