SAEDNEWS: There are many ways to get vitamin D, but these five methods can help you do it safely and with confidence.
According to the Saed News health desk, vitamin D belongs to a group of fat-soluble vitamins that increase the absorption of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium in the intestine, thereby supporting bone growth and strength. In addition, these vitamins play several other vital roles in the human body.
Using the following five methods, you can significantly increase your vitamin D level:
1. Sun exposure (UVB rays)
Expose your skin to the sun’s ultraviolet B (UVB) rays. Note that ultraviolet A (UVA) rays pass through glass, but UVB rays do not. This means that sitting behind a window in sunlight does not help increase vitamin D levels.
2. Fatty fish and liver
Eating liver and fatty fish such as salmon, herring, and mackerel increases vitamin D3 levels.
3. Plant-based sources of vitamin D2
Vitamin D2 is found naturally in plants, mushrooms, and yeast.

4. Fortified foods
Some foods, such as dairy products, may be fortified with vitamin D3.
5. Egg yolk consumption
Egg yolks are a practical dietary source of vitamin D. One egg yolk contains about 40 IU of vitamin D.
An increasing number of studies show how important vitamin D is for overall health. Although sunlight through glass may feel warm and relaxing, it does not help the body produce vitamin D. If necessary, consult a physician to have your vitamin D level checked, as supplementation should be medically supervised.
