SAEDNEWS: Top Tapan Spring is one of the most popular and well-known springs in East Azerbaijan Province. It attracts many tourists every year, and in this article we will introduce you to this spring in more detail.
According to Saednews, Deep within the earth lies a natural marvel known as Tap Tapaan Spring, patiently waiting to be visited. This spring does not merely display flowing water from the beginning; like a compassionate mother, it conveys a sense of life and vitality to its visitors. Now we travel to northwestern Iran to explore one of its unique natural springs.
Azarshahr, located in East Azerbaijan Province, sits at an elevation of 1,468 meters above sea level. This mountainous region is known for its rugged landscapes due to the presence of Mount Sahand and abundant rainfall. Heavy snow and rain have created many beautiful natural springs and scenic landscapes.
Among these natural attractions is the crystal-clear Tap Tapaan Spring, which adds a unique charm to the region with its stunning environment.

Most mineral waters are known for their therapeutic properties, and the hot mineral waters of Tap Tapaan Spring are no exception. The water contains rich minerals such as calcium bicarbonate, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus.
These elements are believed to have positive effects on skin conditions as well as muscle and joint pain relief. Therefore, visiting this destination—considered one of the notable natural attractions near Tabriz—can also be viewed as a therapeutic journey that offers both relaxation and healing.
Tap Tapaan Spring is formed from the merging of several clear water sources. The water contains travertine sediments and iron oxide, which influence its appearance and coloration.
These sediments give the water a rich brownish tone, although the water itself remains naturally clear.

The thermal waters of Tap Tapaan naturally emerge in the form of pools. Over time, water pathways have formed from the spring, allowing the flow to move downward.
At the end of these channels, small pools have formed, enhancing the beauty and freshness of the landscape.
Geologically, the area around the spring is primarily limestone, composed of sedimentary rock formations. The mineral springs in this region are associated with volcanic activity, which is evident in the surrounding deposits.
As the water flows, it leaves behind thick layers of travertine deposits. Geologists also believe that the high levels of carbon dioxide in the water indicate a deep underground origin and a connection to the dormant volcano of Mount Sahand.
Unfortunately, there are limited facilities around the spring. As a result, fewer visitors travel to the area during cold and snowy winter days.
This lack of infrastructure reduces tourist traffic during harsh weather conditions.
In addition to Tap Tapaan Spring, the region offers several other scenic attractions. Green spaces and orchards surround the area, allowing families to enjoy both hydrotherapy benefits and the peaceful mountain landscape.
Other attractions in Azarshahr County include:
Qirmizi Gol tourist area
Surroundings of Yengejeh earth dam
Ancient cemetery and mosque of Badamyar village
Alvanagh valley
Qizil Daghi saline waters
Stone mosque of Cheraghil village
Agricultural lands of Ghazi Jahan villages
Vast farmlands and natural scenery around Azarshahr, Teymourlu, Googhan, and Mamqan
Tap Tapaan Spring stands as a remarkable natural destination combining geological wonder, therapeutic waters, and peaceful landscapes. It is an ideal place for those seeking both natural beauty and tranquility in northwestern Iran.
