SAEDNEWS: Hafezieh, the unique mausoleum of Iranian sonneteer Hafez Shirazi, is one of the most frequented tourist attractions in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz.
The story of Hafez’s mausoleum begins with Shams al-Din Mohammad Yaghmaei, the minister of Abul Qassem Gurkani, ruler of Fars. In 865 AH (1452 AD), he commissioned a majestic dome over the poet’s grave and a large pool in front, fed by the waters of Rokn Abad. Over the centuries, the site was restored and expanded, blending history, architecture, and nature in perfect harmony.
Visitors today can explore two serene courtyards, north and south, framing the central hall, alongside a lush garden, an orangery, and rectangular pools that reflect the timeless elegance of Persian design.
