The World's Longest Pregnancy? Examining the Claim of a Woman Reportedly Pregnant for 17 Months

According to Saednews, A Chinese woman has attracted widespread media attention after reports claimed she has been pregnant for 17 months without giving birth. According to the report, her pregnancy is still ongoing, and the fetus continues to develop.

The woman repeatedly requested that doctors perform a cesarean section. However, her attending physician reportedly told her that the placenta had not developed sufficiently to safely proceed with the operation. Since then, she has visited the hospital more than 30 times for examinations and has spent over 10,000 yuan on medical care.

Three months earlier, when her pregnancy was reportedly at 14 months, she again sought a cesarean delivery. After conducting several medical examinations, doctors concluded that the placenta was still not mature enough for the procedure.

Her physician stated that, based on medical assessments, Wang Shi's pregnancy appeared equivalent to a normal 38-week pregnancy. The fetus was said to be in stable condition, but she had shown no signs of labor.

The woman and her husband said they are exhausted by the prolonged situation and intend to have their baby delivered by cesarean section next month, regardless of the circumstances.
