The Strangest Will Ever Written in the World

According to SAEDNEWS, A will is a legal document in which its author records personal details, assets, and instructions that must be carried out after their death. Sometimes, people include unusual requests in their wills that make them famous; such as those whose strange wills are discussed in this section.

$12 million inheritance for a dog
Helmsley, one of the famous American billionaires, left $12 million to her dog named Trouble when she died at the age of 87. This inheritance was meant to ensure that the dog would continue living in luxury until the end of its life. Interestingly, this billionaire was not as strict with her grandchildren. She disinherited two of them and left $5 million each to the other two, but only on the condition that they visit their father’s grave (the grandchildren’s parent) at least once a year. She also stated in her will that after Trouble’s death, the dog should be buried next to her grave.

Attending his own funeral
Angel Pantoja, a 24-year-old American man, included an unusual request in his will that he be present at his own funeral after his death. Angel’s mother asked the mortuary staff to fulfill her son’s extraordinary last wish. As a result, they decided to embalm his body so that he could be taken to the funeral standing beside his coffin during the ceremony, allowing guests to say their final goodbyes to him. After the funeral ended, Angel’s body was placed inside the coffin and buried.

A billion-dollar inheritance with the condition of smoking

Inheritance to build a women-exclusion library
Eva Zink reportedly had such strong hostility toward women that before her death in 1930, she included a clause in her will dedicating all her wealth to the construction of a library that would contain no books written, published, or translated by women. She also requested that all staff be male and that the entrance bear the sign “Women not allowed.” However, one of Zink’s daughters later prevented this will from being carried out.

Sending ashes of his body into space
Roddenberry, the creator of the TV series Star Trek, was so passionate about science fiction and space exploration that he decided in his will that after his death his body should be cremated and his ashes sent into space and scattered there. In 1997, his wish came true, and his ashes were launched into space aboard a Spanish satellite and dispersed there.

All my wealth to my wife, on the condition of her remarriage
In 1841, Heinrich Heine, a German poet, married Eugénie Mirat. In his will, he decided to leave all his wealth and possessions to his wife, on the condition that after Heine’s death she would remarry. When asked why he included such a condition, Heine replied: “In that case, at least one man will regret my death.” Heinrich Heine died in 1856.

Dog pacemaker donation
Before her death, Dorothy Edwards stated in her will that her pacemaker should be donated to a dog. After Dorothy passed away, her family honored her wish. The device was removed from her body and transferred to the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine to be donated to a dog. It was later implanted in Sunshine, a dog suffering from heart problems.
