SAEDNEWS: Areas Like Entry Halls and Interior Landings Can Serve as Safe Rooms

Where Is a Safe Place During Air Attacks?

According to the Community Service of Saed News, the Red Crescent has issued recommendations to help prevent potential injuries during air raids.

After underground shelters, the home—provided it includes a “safe room”—is considered the safest place in the world during wartime bombings.

A safe room is a space designed with two layers of walls to protect its occupants: the first wall absorbs the blast wave and flying debris, while the second wall serves as the final protective barrier.

Ideally, a safe room should be located in the central part of the building, minimizing shared walls with the outside. It is also best if the room has no windows, allowing maximum concrete layers for defense. Entry halls and internal landings can also serve as safe rooms.

To secure a safe room, remove objects such as paintings, mirrors, heavy chandeliers, and shelves that are not anchored to walls and could be thrown during an explosion. These items can be as dangerous as the blast itself.

If the safe room has a window, reinforce the glass with wide tape in a cross pattern and cover it with a blanket for added protection.

When taking shelter, choose a safe corner along interior walls, under main ceiling beams, and keep away from the center of the room.
