SAEDNEWS: Last week, a plane traveling from Ecuador to Spain landed with one more passenger than had boarded. The surprising addition came after one of the passengers, completely unaware she was pregnant, gave birth during the flight.
According to Saed News, last week a flight from Ecuador to Spain landed with one extra passenger—following the unexpected birth of a baby mid-air. The mother, Tamara, was completely unaware she was pregnant.
Tamara went to the airplane restroom with abdominal pain, not expecting that moments later she would become a mother. Fortunately, several doctors and nurses were among the passengers and were able to assist with the sudden delivery. Afterward, the plane made a stop in the Netherlands so that Tamara and her newborn could be transferred to a hospital in Amsterdam.
A hospital spokesperson told the media, “A few hours before Tamara’s transfer, she experienced abdominal pain and went to the airplane restroom. To everyone’s surprise, after just two contractions, a baby was born. Tamara had no idea she was pregnant and was shocked by what happened.”

According to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, two doctors and one Austrian nurse were on board and helped with the unexpected birth. Both mother and child are now reported to be in good health. The hospital confirmed their well-being and stated that, following Tamara’s original plan, she and her baby will soon continue their journey to Spain. Tamara named her son Maximiliano, after one of the passengers who stayed by her side and helped ensure the delivery went smoothly.
