Anna Swan, standing 2.26 meters tall, married Martin Van Buren Bates, who was 2.19 meters. Living in the 19th century, they are recognized as the tallest couple in history—a record that still stands today.
Anna, already famous in her city for her extraordinary height, found that after marrying Martin, she was no longer the subject of curious stares.
