Ingredients for the Juicy Beef Kofta

  • 500 g lean ground beef

  • 2 finely chopped onions

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 red chili pepper, finely chopped

  • 70 g toasted brown breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp barbecue seasoning

  • 2 tbsp ground coriander

  • 2 tbsp ground cumin

  • A handful of fresh coriander, chopped

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Oil, for frying

  • Brown pita bread

  • Green peppers

  • Cherry tomatoes, halved

Ingredients for the Sauce

  • ½ cucumber

  • A handful of fresh mint, chopped

  • 125 ml Greek yogurt

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 30 ml sour cream, optional

How to Make Juicy Beef Kofta with Pita Bread

  1. Combine all the kofta ingredients in a large bowl and mix and knead thoroughly until well combined.

  2. Take about one tablespoon of the mixture and shape it into a small ball using your hands.

  3. Continue shaping the mixture into kofta balls until all the mixture has been used.

  4. Place a large frying pan over medium heat and add enough oil to coat the bottom. Allow the oil to heat up.

  5. Add the kofta to the pan and fry, turning occasionally, until they are evenly browned on all sides and completely cooked through.

  6. Transfer the cooked kofta to paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

  7. To serve, open the pita breads and fill them with the kofta, sauce, green peppers, and cherry tomatoes according to your preference.

How to Make the Sauce

Cut the cucumber in half lengthwise and use a spoon to remove the seeds. Grate the cucumber, then squeeze out the excess liquid. Add it to the remaining sauce ingredients and season with salt and pepper to taste.
