SAEDNEWS: If you need strawberries for making desserts and cakes throughout the year, you can freeze fresh strawberries in the summer season and use them for a long time.
According to SAEDNEWS, Strawberry is one of the most popular and healthiest fruits, used not only as a fresh fruit but also for making desserts and decorating cakes. Since strawberry is a summer fruit, many people freeze it so they can use it throughout the year. In this section, we explain methods for long-term storage of strawberries.
Best method for long-term storage of strawberries:
If you want to keep strawberries for a long time and use them in other seasons as well, freezing strawberries is a good option.

1. Selecting strawberries:
Choose large, healthy strawberries that are shiny and firm. It is better to buy organic strawberries and avoid dried, moldy, or overly wet ones, as excess moisture is a sign of spoilage.
Buy strawberries that still have green leaves attached. Separate any moldy strawberries from the rest, because if one strawberry is moldy, it can contaminate and spoil the others as well.
2. Washing the strawberries:
Rinse the strawberries under running tap water to completely remove any dirt. Most strawberries are sold in packages that are relatively clean. The best way to eliminate germs is to wash them with water and white vinegar. Then spread the strawberries on a kitchen towel to dry and remove excess water.
3. Cutting the strawberries:
Using a sharp knife, make vertical cuts on the strawberries, but be careful not to cut all the way through to the bottom. Gently press the bottom of the strawberry with your thumb and index finger so the slices open up.
4. Placing strawberries in a container:
Line a container with parchment paper and place the sliced strawberries on it with some distance between each piece. If you have a large amount of strawberries, after arranging the first layer, cover it with a plastic sheet or another layer of parchment paper and place the remaining strawberries on top.
5. Freezing the strawberries:
Place the container in the freezer until the strawberries are completely frozen. Then transfer the frozen strawberries into a freezer bag, seal it tightly, and return it to the freezer. You can use them anytime you want.
Note:
By freezing strawberries, it is possible to preserve a portion of the vitamin C content in this fruit. In contrast, when making jam, canning, or even drying strawberries, many of their vitamins are lost, and only fiber and minerals remain.
Storing strawberries in the refrigerator:
If you want your strawberries to last longer in the refrigerator, do not wash them. Instead, simply remove the green leaves with a knife and place the strawberries in a freezer bag in the refrigerator. Wash them before consumption. Using this method, strawberries can last up to seven days in the refrigerator.
