Saed News: The jury in the court case related to Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI, after three weeks of testimony against the entrepreneur, ruled that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman were not guilty in this case.

Elon Musk’s Lawsuit Against OpenAI Failed

According to SAEDNEWS, citing Engadget, the jury stated that when Musk filed the lawsuit against these two top executives, the statute of limitations had already applied to the case. Musk filed a lawsuit in 2024, accusing the two executives of stealing from a charity after he left the artificial intelligence company in 2018.

Although the jury in this case had only an advisory role, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers agreed with its decision. Musk’s claims of breach of charitable duty and unjust enrichment were also rejected as untimely actions. However, Musk can still appeal the decision.

The focus of the case was OpenAI, which had transitioned from a non-profit company into a public-benefit organization. The Tesla CEO had claimed that this move, along with Microsoft’s $1.3 billion investment in the company, violated OpenAI’s original contractual agreements. A key question in the trial was when Musk became aware of OpenAI’s for-profit ambitions due to the three-year statute of limitations.

A Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement: the facts and timelines in the case have long been clear, and we are pleased with the jury’s decision to dismiss the allegations. We remain committed to working with OpenAI to advance and expand artificial intelligence for people and organizations around the world.

Elon Musk wrote in a post on the X social network after the verdict that he intends to appeal the court’s decision.
