According to the Science and Technology Desk of SaedNews, Geely’s Galaxy V900 minivan has set a Guinness World Record by accommodating 42 people inside its cabin. Geely reports that the new minivan features an interior space of 8.41 square meters and an efficiency rate of 91.8 percent, the highest in its class.

The record falls under “the most people inside a multipurpose vehicle.” The average height of the participants was 170 centimeters. Experts say that the cabin’s 8.41-square-meter interior and the more-than-one-meter spacing between rows were key factors in achieving this feat.

Geely’s achievement, however, is not unprecedented. In 2015, the Toyota RAV4 managed to fit 41 people, while a Volkswagen camper van that same year accommodated 50.

The Galaxy V900 boasts a large body with a short nose and a flat roof. Its dimensions are 5,360 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,940 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm. The interior is available in two configurations: a six-seater with three rows of seats and an eight-seater with four rows.

The cargo depth measures 919 mm in the six-seater and 347 mm in the eight-seater. Notably, the fourth row folds into a recessed floor, creating a completely flat surface. The Galaxy V900 comes with 18- or 20-inch wheels and optional electric side steps.

Powering the V900 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 161 horsepower, functioning as a generator. Two battery packs, 43.3 kWh and 50 kWh, are offered, giving the vehicle an all-electric range of 165 to 202 kilometers. Fuel consumption with a depleted battery is between 7 and 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers. Details on electric motors, pricing, and sale dates are not yet available.
