SAEDNEWS: In the early years of establishing chelow kebab restaurants, women were not allowed to purchase food or be present inside these restaurants.
According to Saednews, During the early years of the establishment of chelow kababi restaurants (traditional Iranian rice and kebab eateries), women were not allowed to enter or purchase food from these establishments. Due to the male-dominated social structure and cultural norms of the Qajar period, food shops and public dining spaces were largely designed only for men. This restriction applied not only to chelow kababis but also to other food places such as dizi restaurants and similar establishments.
As a result, women could neither sit inside these restaurants nor even buy takeaway meals themselves. The only way women could eat chelow kebab was if a male member of the household purchased it and brought it home, or if they sent an order through a chelow kababi worker, who would deliver the food to their house.
