Al Jazeera Reports on Multiple Major Historical Sites in Iran Following U.S. and Israeli Strikes

According to the History and Culture Service of Saed News, recent airstrikes have caused damage to dozens of ancient sites, some of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Key Points of the Report

Capital landmarks targeted: Golestan Palace in Tehran, with a history spanning several centuries, is among the notable buildings damaged during the attacks. The old parliament building is also listed among the affected sites.

Nationwide destruction: At least 56 historical and cultural sites across Iran have been impacted. The damage is not limited to Tehran and includes valuable structures such as Falak-ol-Aflak Castle (dating back to the 12th century) and historic sites in the city of Isfahan.

Protective protocols ineffective: Despite the installation of the international “Blue Shield” at more than 120 sensitive cultural locations to highlight their protected status under international conventions, these sites were still targeted in the attacks.
