SAEDNEWS: During the explosions and bombardment at Arg Square on 15 Khordad Street, Golestan Palace sustained damage to some of its architectural decorations but largely escaped serious harm to its main structure.
According to the History and Culture Service of Saed News, the incident caused damage to parts of the wooden doors, stained glass windows, and sections of the Mirror Hall. However, the historic building itself remained standing, with most of the damage reported on decorative and non-structural elements.
Fortunately, the museum artifacts housed within this valuable complex were unharmed. These items had previously been moved to secure storage as part of protective measures, ensuring the palace’s unique cultural heritage was preserved. Such precautions highlight the importance of proactive planning in safeguarding historic sites during crises.
Thanks to installed safety systems and the fact that the gas supply was shut off at the time of the explosion, the structure did not sustain serious damage. No staff members, security personnel, or soldiers stationed at the site were injured. The incident underscores once again the critical role of safety standards and emergency preparedness in protecting historic buildings.
