SAEDNEWS: A Hebrew-language channel reported tensions between Trump and Netanyahu over Iran — while Trump favors a diplomatic approach, Netanyahu continues to advocate a hardline stance on Iran’s nuclear program
According to SAEDNEWS: Israel’s Channel 12 revealed on Monday that a recent phone call between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump exposed serious disagreements.
The Israeli network reported: “Fundamental differences have emerged between the two sides regarding the issue of Iran.”
During the call, Trump explained to Netanyahu that he “wants to pursue a diplomatic solution with Iran to reach a good agreement that ensures Israel’s security needs and also achieves Washington’s goals,” even as Netanyahu maintains a more hardline rhetoric toward Tehran.
In this context, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security announced that she discussed with the Israeli Prime Minister the ongoing negotiations with Iran and the need for a positive direction in the talks between Washington and Tehran.
Kristi Noem, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, stated on Saturday after her meeting with Netanyahu that President Trump “specifically sent her to speak with Netanyahu about the course of the U.S.-Iran negotiations,” emphasizing how important it is “that we remain united and allow this process to move forward.”
According to Middle East News, Kristi Noem, who traveled to the occupied territories and met with Netanyahu, disclosed details of the meeting.
She said: “I had frank discussions with Netanyahu regarding Iran.”
The U.S. official noted that she conveyed a message to Netanyahu emphasizing the importance of Washington and Tel Aviv staying united and allowing the negotiations with Iran to proceed in a positive direction.
Previously, during a joint press conference with the Israeli Foreign Minister, Noem had stated that Washington “will always stand by Israel and will continue the fight against terrorism.”
Earlier, NBC News quoted American officials and diplomats revealing that relations between Trump and Netanyahu, particularly concerning Iran and Gaza, “have become increasingly strained.”
The report disclosed that the biggest point of contention has emerged over “Iran’s nuclear issue.” Trump believes that “an agreement is a way to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons,” whereas “Israel fears that now is the ideal moment to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, and continued negotiations may result in a missed opportunity.”
