Iranian FM Spokesman: Rubio’s False Claims Cannot Override the Facts

According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has rejected what he described as baseless claims by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio concerning Iran’s alleged involvement in Yemen.

In a post on his X account late Wednesday, Baghaei said, “Marco Rubio’s lies cannot replace facts,” emphasizing that Ansarallah is an independent Yemeni actor that makes its own decisions and “takes orders from no one and acts as nobody’s proxy.”

Baghaei argued that the roots of regional instability lie in U.S. military interventions and what he called Washington’s hegemonic policies. He added that if the United States genuinely sought peace, it should end what he described as its “malign and destabilizing interventions” in the region.

He also stressed that peace in Yemen cannot be achieved through bombing campaigns or external pressure. According to Baghaei, a lasting resolution must begin with genuine negotiations based on the roadmap previously agreed upon by the parties involved.
