SAEDNEWS: Tucker Carlson, a former supporter of Donald Trump who has since become one of his outspoken critics, said the U.S. president should be removed from office “immediately.”
According to the political service of SaedNews, Newsweek reported that Tucker Carlson has called for the immediate removal of U.S. President Donald Trump over what he described as the possibility of the U.S. military using nuclear weapons.
The conservative commentator and former Fox News host made the remarks on The Tucker Carlson Show, warning about the danger of nuclear escalation in the conflict between the United States and Iran and calling for Trump to be removed from office immediately.
In a podcast released Friday, Carlson said he had been “strongly opposed” to efforts to impeach Trump, describing such attempts as “pointless.”
However, the American commentator said that even considering the use of nuclear weapons would cross a “red line.” Questioning the prospect of destroying humanity through a nuclear attack, he asked why no effort was being made to remove Trump immediately.
Carlson argued that any senior official in any country who raises the possibility of using nuclear weapons forfeits the right to lead and should be removed from office immediately. He said he considered such a standard fair and justified.
The former Fox News host also referred to a warning Trump made in April, when the president claimed that if Iran refused to meet U.S. demands, “the whole civilization of this country” could be destroyed overnight. Carlson characterized Trump's remarks as having elements of a nuclear threat.
Carlson’s comments come amid growing tensions between him and Trump, largely stemming from their disagreements over U.S. foreign policy and the American military campaign against Iran.
Last June, Carlson announced that he was breaking with the Republican Party and would no longer support it. He also said he intended to establish a third political party.
Newsweek noted that Trump has repeatedly argued that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons and has increasingly intensified his rhetoric over the consequences of Iran refusing to comply with U.S. demands.
According to IRNA, Carlson has previously criticized Washington’s hawkish policies and high military spending, arguing that foreign wars are a major contributor to rising U.S. debt. He said the United States spends trillions of dollars each year while failing to achieve victory in many of the wars it has entered.
The former Fox News host added that a significant portion of U.S. discretionary spending goes toward wars in which the country does not prevail and which are not necessarily launched in accordance with the wishes of the American people.
