SAEDNEWS: Byron Donalds won the Republican primary for Florida governor, but several candidates backed by Donald Trump were defeated in Tuesday’s primaries in Florida and other states.
According to SaedNews: Byron Donalds, a close ally of Donald Trump, won the Republican primary for governor of Florida in Tuesday’s elections, which were also held in several other states.

The results also included defeats for several Trump-backed candidates, indicating that the president’s endorsement does not guarantee victory in intra-party contests.
Donalds secured the Republican nomination with 47.8 percent of the vote, while former congressman and former Republican David Jolly won the Democratic nomination. The election is being held to replace Ron DeSantis.
In Florida, Catalina Lauf, a Trump-backed candidate, also lost. In Wyoming, Megan Degenfelder, who had Trump’s support in the gubernatorial race, was defeated by her opponent.
Florida Republican Representative Cory Mills, who is facing an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, likewise lost the primary to Ryan Elijah.
The U.S. midterm elections will be held in November 2026. Republicans currently control both the House and Senate, but the possibility of Democrats regaining control of either chamber is considered very high. Traditionally, the president’s party has suffered losses in midterm elections.
