SAEDNEWS: The IRGC spokesman accused the US of threatening global energy security through its actions in the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iran will continue to assert its sovereignty over the strategic waterway.
According to Saednews, Iranian military officials have issued a strong warning against what they describe as U.S. interference in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that Tehran will maintain control over the strategic waterway and respond firmly to any actions it considers a threat to its sovereignty.
In a statement released Monday, General Hossein Mohebbi said that foreign involvement in the Strait of Hormuz has placed global energy security at risk. He stressed that Iran would continue to oversee the passage with determination and defend its national interests.
The comments followed a statement from Iran's Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, which reaffirmed that the Iranian Armed Forces would not tolerate external interference in the management of the strait. The headquarters said it would take decisive action against any attempt to disrupt commercial shipping or oil tanker movements outside routes designated by Iranian authorities.
A spokesperson for the headquarters also claimed that continued U.S. activity in the strategic waterway threatens regional stability, international trade, and maritime navigation. The spokesperson further accused some regional governments of increasing tensions by cooperating with Washington.
Iran additionally warned that any logistical assistance provided to U.S. forces by regional partners could be viewed as an action against Iran's sovereignty and national security. The statement held both the United States and its regional allies responsible for any future escalation or deterioration of security in the region.
