The New York Times: Hezbollah Drones Have Caused the Failure of the Israeli Army’s Strategy

According to SAEDNEWS, The New York Times published an analytical report stating that Hezbollah drones have been able to undermine Israel’s military strategy in Lebanon and shift battlefield dynamics in favor of the resistance.

The newspaper wrote that Israel’s military operation against Lebanon, which initially began with broad hopes and objectives, has now turned into a deadlock—an situation in which Hezbollah has not only not been weakened, but is in a stronger position compared to the start of the war.

According to the report, Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to order the bombing of Beirut’s southern Dahiyeh area is considered an implicit acknowledgment of the failure of Israel’s strategy in this war. The New York Times emphasized that Israel’s initial strategy was based on the assumption that by occupying parts of Lebanese territory, it could force Hezbollah to retreat and accept its conditions.

The report also adds that Israel was unprepared to face Hezbollah’s widespread use of fiber-optic guided suicide drones, which are resistant to many electronic warfare systems and have created a major surprise for the Israeli army.

The New York Times states that Hezbollah drones caused confusion and disruption among Israeli forces, as military commanders never expected these weapons to be so dangerous and effective.

The report further notes that as drone attacks expanded, Israeli soldiers stationed in southern Lebanon effectively became “moving targets” and remain under constant surveillance and attack, creating serious operational and security challenges for the Israeli army.
